First Gold/Bronze Medal for U.S. Skiers

Congratulations to Hannah Kearney who won gold and Shannon Bahrke who won bronze medals in Women's Moguls today! Both of their runs were gorgeous. It is amazing to see how easy they make it look to ski moguls. (Trust me, it isn't easy.) It was also fun to see the U.S. Freestyle coaches and manager celebrating. What a great way to start out the Olympics for the U.S.A.

Last year I invited Shannon to come talk to our Rookies during their camp. She joined us for dinner the second night and brought her 2002 Silver Medal with her. Hearing Shannon tell the story about making the Olympic team that year and then winning her medal actually gave me the chills. She describes it so well you almost feel like you were there. (Actually I was outside the venue waiting to meet up with my dad, so I could see the top part of the run but not the bottom.) When I asked her about getting a picture she insisted that I wear the medal. Hopefully we can get her to come back this year to talk to the Rookies and she can bring her 2002 Silver and her 2010 Bronze medals!

Congratulations also go out to Apolo Anton Ohno and J.R. Celski on their silver and bronze short track medals tonight!
